An Entertainment Company is seeking a Sr. DevOps Cloud Engineer in Orlando, FL/Hybrid

Role Description

The team is responsible for three product categories. Expertise is not needed in every application, but understanding the concept or previous usage of a similar tool will likely be beneficial.

  • Application Build and Deploy – Jenkins, Sonar, GitHub, GitLab, Rundeck, Terraform
  • Configuration and Secrets – Consul, Vault, Etc.D
  • Search Engineering – ElasticSearch, AWS OpenSearch

All work is performed utilizing Infrastructure as Code, so competence in various languages will be needed. Some examples include systems management and automation through authoring and maintenance of Terraform, Python, Perl, Ruby, and shell scripting as well as experience implementing and utilizing enterprise configuration management solutions such as Chef.
  • Conducts or leads others in the day-to-day maintenance and administration of software platform(s), and configuration updates following established procedures.
  • Identifies root causes of operational issues, resolves problems and/or recommends solutions for implementation by others.
  • Leads in developing tools, automation, and scripts to facilitate platform maintenance, operational efficiency, reliability, and administration.
  • Works with business units to plan for new projects and events impacting the relevant platform, including capacity planning, monitoring, configuration, security, metrics, reporting and recovery, and migration strategies.
  • Provides research, design, building, testing, and support to software platform(s), including support for multiple levels of testing prior to release of new and upgraded platform or infrastructure.
  • Uses data and metrics to plan for business unit growth needs, plan upgrades, migrations, and functionality.
  • Participates in the development of best practices, validation, and adherence.
  • Participates in the development of large technical solutions that meet specifications and that impact future developments.
  • Participates in the development and refinement of standards and best practices for the production environment based on the needs of the supported business units.
  • Recognized as a subject matter expert on at least one OS and proficient in multiple operating systems, including OS performance monitoring, setup, configuration, tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Recognized as a subject matter expert on at least one web server and application server technology, including setup, configuration, performance monitoring, tuning, clustering, and debugging.
  • Able to use scripts and tools built by others, including the ability to troubleshoot or debug issues with these tools.
  • Able to evaluate new system and/or infrastructure solutions for technical feasibility against known requirements and standards.
  • Effective at dealing with change: Able to transition in role or handle a significant modification to workflow or technology with minimal ramp-up time and with very little guidance.
  • Comfortable presenting issues to management as well as peers

Skills & Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of progressively related experience in Systems Engineering and/or software development.
  • Knowledge of systems applications and hardware, server architecture, operating platforms, and internet and web applications.
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Chef or Puppet.
  • Experience with build and automation tools such as Rundeck, and Jenkins.
  • Working experience with load balancers, either cloud or physical
  • In-depth experience with:
  • AWS and it’s various products (EC2, ECS, ALB, NLB, S3, EBS, ECR, etc)
  • Container Technology (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Systems support
  • Tools and middleware including Chef, Terraform, Tomcat, Java, Node.js
  • Scripting / Bash
  • Enterprise operating systems (Linux, Windows)
  • Project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
