I am partnered with a longstanding New Jersey General Contractor and Construction Management firm that has been in business since the 1970’s building a mix of interior fit-out and renovations along with out-of-the-ground developments across the tri-state area. They focus across commercial, institutional, retail, and hospitality sectors with project values ranging from $1M-$100M.

The business covers carpentry in-house and are open-shop when it comes to the labor force they utilize. They currently have a team of 5 within their Pre-construction / Estimating team and are looking for an additional Senior Estimating hire as they continue to win work.

Your new role

This contractor is looking for a Senior Estimator to join their Estimating team of 5 currently. The current team consists of 4 Junior Estimators and a Senior overseeing the group. This individual has the opportunity to take on management experience within the group down the road, or, if they would prefer to remain on the technical side, can take on the larger, more challenging projects whilst continuing to support the bidding pipeline.

You can expect the following on a day-to-day basis:

• Analyzing and interpreting architectural plans / blueprints / construction drawings
• Breaking down the scope of works
• Performing material take-offs
• Managing RFP's / RFI's
• Obtaining quotes from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors
• Providing detailed proposals and accurate bid packages
• Negotiating with vendors and clients and attending meetings with staff, architects and clients.
• Value engineering projects
• Attending site visits and walk-through's
• Liaising with PM teams to manage purchasing

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role as a Senior Estimator you should have at least 5 years’ experience in the industry delivering a mix of GMP, lump-sum, or negotiated estimates for a range of projects across the tri-state. You will be able to build on existing sub-contractor relationships and, ideally, have a Civil Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management degree. Having experience in On-Screen Take-Off, and Procore are not essential, but highly desirable.
