Ground up construction estimating role with an established NYC Design Build GC/CM

Your new company
My client is a leading construction company based in New York City that specialized in providing comprehensive GC/CM & design build services within the 5 boroughs. They are excepts in mixed use residential, affordable housing, and market rate rentals, which equates to 80% of their workload. In additional to the majority of their business, they also develop their own commercial properties, which tend to be interior renovation projects for their clients.

Your role & responsibilities
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as a Senior Estimator. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of construction processes and delivery methods from the perspectives of both a General Contractor (GC) and Construction Manager (CM). This role requires an individual who can accurately assess and price all elements of a construction project, ensuring competitive bids while maintaining profitability and quality standards.

Responsibilities:
• Maintain ownership of multiple bids, estimates, and processes at the same time.
• Develop and implement strategic estimating processes and procedures to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and consistency in bid preparation.
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for accurate project estimates.
• Analyze project specifications, blueprints, and other documentation to understand project scope and requirements.
• Conduct detailed quantity takeoffs and material pricing for all aspects of construction projects, including but not limited to, labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
• Review and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure compliance with project specifications and budgetary constraints.
• Provide input and recommendations during the pre-construction phase to optimize project costs and schedules.
• Participate in bid reviews and negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Monitor industry trends, market conditions, and material prices to inform accurate estimating practices.
• Maintain accurate records of project estimates, bids, and cost data for future reference and analysis.

What you’ll need to succeed
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
• Minimum of 7+ years of experience in construction estimating, with a proven track record of success in bidding and winning projects.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
• Proficiency in construction estimating software such as Procore, Bluebeam, or similar tools.
• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and interact with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities with the capacity to motivate and mentor team members.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Knowledge of New York construction market and regulations.
