Project Manager - Mechanical | HVAC | Piping - Non-union Full-Service Mechanical Contractor

Your new company
I am partnered with a non-union full-service mechanical contractor having served New York for over 60+ years. As a second-generation privately-owned business with over 260 employees specializing in high-rise, renovation, hotels, gut rehab, and new construction project work for commercial and residential applications.

With all design, drafting, and fabrication in-house, they can control the process from design through project delivery across HVAC, Fire Protection & Sprinkler systems, with project values exceeding $35M. They are seeking a Mechanical Project Manager to join the team as they continue to expand their portfolio.

Your new role
This Mechanical Project Manager will have a strong understanding of mechanical systems throughout commercial and residential properties across the tristate area, specifically HVAC and Piping. You will be accountable for supporting the foreman on-site, in addition to the Estimating team providing technical expertise required within the scope to meet design, cost, schedule and safety objectives.

You will be responsible for the following:
  • Reviews contract, drawings and specifications
  • Attend weekly project meetings (virtual or in person)
  • Review and communicate with the drafting team to make sure shop drawings are accurate
  • Estimating/Change order estimates
  • Gathering quotes from vendors/subcontractors
  • Preparing change orders, submittals, RFI’s
  • Preparing scope review sheets
  • Review addendum/revision drawings
  • Request, submit and track submittals for equipment and parts
  • Prepare, submit and track RFIs
  • Equipment release, coordination and tracking
  • Manage construction schedule and activities
  • Coordinate efforts between ownership/GC and subcontractors across the entire project
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Organized and committed to record keeping and documentation best practices
  • Understanding and knowledge of construction and contracting processes, industry fundamentals, and business operations.

What you'll need to succeed
  • The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience working for a NYC-based Mechanical or Plumbing contractor.
  • Requires the ability to comprehend an engineer’s specifications and being able to read and interpret construction drawings, specifically, Mechanical and Plumbing layout drawings.
  • Have a high level of Computer skills, including those needed to operate Excel, Word, Outlook, and On-Screen Take-Off (OST).
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with team members, vendors and customers.
  • Holding a Mechanical related Degree is not essential, but advantageous.
